Conferences may say publicly that it wants to improve

regular season conference schedules. However, I am not sure I completely buy that being the main driving factor. I believe the main driving factor is that certain conferences either want more desirable CCG and/or better access to send 1 (or even 2 teams) to the Playoff. I could be wrong, but since the 2003 season I believe the ACC has the most number of seasons where the top 2 ranked teams at the end of the regular season come from the same division. Also, I believe the ACC may even want to give Notre Dame access to the CCG while allowing Notre Dame to remain an Independent in football.
